Chances are a lot of people who use sites like this one know about freecycle already but it's well worth knowing about if you don't. Freecycle is a worldwide community where if you've got something you don't need anymore and just want to get rid of you can post it on there for other people to come and collect (for free). This is great if you're looking for things like bikes, kitchen appliances or sofas as people post things like this all the time (you narrow it down to your local area and join the relevant group there). Really useful site, I've been using it for years and have had a washing machine and a piano from it (I also got rid of an old rug I didn't need today which is what made me think of it!). You can set it so you receive email updates when people post stuff. It's always good to have a browse!
