CeX: trade unwanted games and tech for money or a store voucher

Compare a cash quote with the voucher alternative, then allow for condition testing, secure packing and payment processing.

How it works

CeX buys eligible second-hand games, consoles, phones and other electronics, with separate cash and store-voucher quotes for the exact model and condition. It can be a practical way to clear things you already own without handling a private buyer, but compare other buyers before accepting: a higher voucher figure is not money you can withdraw. Online sellers must be at least 16 and postal sell orders must total £5 or more. Condition, missing accessories and testing affect acceptance and value; select the correct model and grade rather than relying on the headline price for a pristine example.

Back up and erase personal data, remove account locks and SIM cards, and follow CeX’s preparation instructions before handing over hardware. Its mainland-UK Freepost route includes cover only up to £150, so consider a fully insured paid service for valuable parcels and retain proof of posting. Check the rejected-item choice carefully: recycling cannot later be reversed, while free returns are limited to mainland addresses. Online payment options are bank transfer, PayPal or a voucher; CeX aims to test and process payment within a week of receipt, not immediately after posting. Packing, travel and time reduce what you keep, and selling possessions is not guaranteed profit.
