Depop: sell unwanted clothes, with payment-processing and optional boosting fees

List fashion you already own and receive sale proceeds through Depop Payments; no UK selling commission does not mean zero costs.

How it works

Depop is a fashion resale marketplace where you can photograph and list clothes, shoes and accessories you already own. Clear measurements, accurate condition details and photos of flaws help buyers decide whether an item suits them. Start with unwanted pieces rather than buying stock: a listing is not a promise of a sale, and recovering some of your original spending is different from making a trading profit. Keep messages and payments on the platform and retain tracked proof of postage.

UK sellers currently pay no Depop selling commission, but Depop Payments deducts 2.9% plus 30p from the sale price and shipping, including applicable taxes. Optional boosted listings attract a separate 12% fee under the current schedule, so do not enable that assuming it is free. Allow for packaging, postage and possible refunds when pricing. Bank payouts depend on shipping: Depop Shipping normally triggers payment two business days after delivery or ten after sale, whichever comes first; manual shipping can mean ten business days after delivery, plus bank-transfer time. Complete identity and bank checks before relying on the money.

Thought Depop scrapped seller fees in the UK to compete with Vinted—what are the fees you still have to pay?

EZ

They dropped the old 10% selling fee, but if you toggle on 'Boosted listings' they still take 8% of the sale price, so make sure you untick boosting when listing

Cottonmouth

Sneaky how they default you towards boosting! I'll make sure to keep boosted listings switched off

Degenfish

Depop is full of people sending 40% off lowball offers and then ghosting when you accept, Vinted is miles faster for shifting clothes.

GeorgeOfTheJungle

Depop's buyer protection fee plus postage on cheap £5 t-shirts doubles the price for buyers so cheap items barely move anymore.
