Free Medway bus travel on three December weekends: 5–6, 12–13 and 19–20
All Medway bus operators are taking part, but return journeys starting outside the area may still need a paid ticket.

How it works
Medway Council has confirmed free local bus travel on 5–6, 12–13 and 19–20 December 2026, with all bus operators in Medway participating. On those six days, eligible journeys are free until the last bus. You can board a local service within Medway or starting there, including a journey that crosses the council boundary. This is a future December offer, not free travel on every weekend between now and Christmas.
Check the actual route and timetable with the operator before travelling and plan your return as well as the outward trip. The council specifically warns that normal fares apply when returning from Kent, so an outward ride beyond Medway does not automatically make the return free. The promotion concerns local buses rather than an unrestricted rail or national-coach ticket. Admission, food and any connections outside the scheme remain extra; allow for busy services and the last departure time rather than assuming an additional bus will be provided.

Handy for getting into Chatham and Rochester for the Christmas markets without paying town centre car park prices
