How it works
The rail industry has confirmed free travel for serving Armed Forces personnel and veterans attending Remembrance services on 8 November 2026. For the Cenotaph service, travel to a London terminal is permitted on 7 or 8 November, with return on 8 November. Journeys to services elsewhere in Great Britain are covered on 8 November only. Veterans need accepted proof of service, while serving personnel can wear uniform or show their MOD90 card. This is restricted event travel, not a general free-train weekend.
The offer also covers one nominated bereaved next of kin with a named complimentary ticket; applications close at noon on 16 October. Royal British Legion London Poppy Day collectors have separate qualifying arrangements around 29 October, and Submariners’ service travel has its own dates. Read the official announcement for the route that applies to you. Companions need their own tickets, and bereaved ticket holders need photographic ID. Check engineering works before travelling.
