Hygglo: rent out suitable equipment you own, with a 20% lender commission

List useful belongings for local hire, but check borrower verification, handover time and UK guarantee conditions before lending.

How it works

Hygglo is a UK peer-to-peer rental marketplace for suitable belongings such as tools, camping equipment and camera gear. You create an accurate listing, choose a rental price and decide whether to accept requests. Listing is free, but the platform deducts 20% from the rental fee: a £50 hire leaves £40 before your own costs. Consider local demand, cleaning, maintenance and the time needed for collection and return. No bookings or regular income are guaranteed, so start with equipment you already own rather than buying expensive stock on speculation.

Only hand over after the booking and borrower verification are confirmed, and keep payment and messages on Hygglo. Photograph condition and accessories before and after each hire. UK protection uses a platform-funded Lender Guarantee, not the Nordic insurance policy: limits depend on category, and exclusions include ordinary wear, pre-existing faults and some courier losses. Read the current full terms and claims requirements before lending anything valuable, and check any separate insurance obligations. Payouts are sent to your bank after the rental is marked returned, with processing or verification delays possible. This is active lending with damage and dispute risks, not effortless passive income.

Lending out a £600 camera lens or pressure washer to a stranger when Hygglo takes 20% feels risky if it comes back scratched
