Patreon: earn from original creative work through memberships and digital sales
An audience-building option for UK creators, with free setup but platform, payment and payout fees once supporters pay.

How it works
Patreon lets UK creators offer paid memberships and sell original digital work, such as podcasts, illustrations or useful downloads. You choose the content and pricing, and can start a page without a monthly setup charge. This suits people willing to build an audience and deliver continuing value; simply opening a page does not create customers. Use content you own or have permission to sell, check the age and content rules, and complete payout verification. Budget for creation, promotion and supporter administration.
New creator pages use a 10% platform fee, plus payment processing, payout charges, possible currency conversion and applicable taxes. The standard GBP processing rate is 3.4% plus 35p per payment, so small memberships lose a meaningful share to fees. Eligible purchases inside the Patreon iOS app have a separate 30% Apple fee instead of normal processing, while Patreon’s platform fee still applies. GBP bank payouts are supported, subject to minimums and security holds. Check the live fee table before setting prices; supporter cancellations, refunds and uneven demand mean earnings are uncertain.
