PMT Education: teach online lessons with an 18% platform fee

How it works
PMT Education is recruiting tutors to teach through its online classroom, with applicants able to set their own availability and lesson rate after approval. This is a home-based teaching option rather than a survey or product-testing reward. You must live in the UK, be allowed to work on a self-employed basis, have a UK bank account and hold or be studying for a relevant degree. At least one year of professional teaching or tutoring experience is required. Selection includes an interview and teaching assessment, identity and qualification checks, plus an enhanced DBS certificate issued within two years or covered by the Update Service.
The platform deducts 18% from lesson payments: a £30 lesson would leave £24.60 before your own expenses and tax. Its payment FAQ says Stripe normally transfers money around one working day after client payment, depending on bank processing, with a weekly option available on request. Contract terms also allow delays and deductions for complaints, refunds and chargebacks, so this is not an unconditional instant payout. Include lesson planning and administration when judging your effective hourly return, and check the cost of obtaining a DBS certificate if needed. Lessons use PMT’s classroom and can be recorded. Approval and a listing do not guarantee bookings, and there are restrictions on taking introduced students off-platform.
