How it works
Tutor Hunt is a UK marketplace where you can offer lessons in subjects you know well and choose online teaching using its video, screen-sharing and whiteboard tools. Creating an account is free, and you set your tutor rate rather than receiving a fixed platform wage. Student-facing lesson prices include a separate website fee. Check your own net fee and the price shown to students before accepting bookings: a public profile is not a promise of enquiries or regular paid hours. Include preparation, marking, messages and cancellations when deciding whether your rate is worthwhile.
Tutors must be at least eighteen and have the right to work in the UK on a self-employed basis. Before a profile can receive enquiries and bookings, the current terms require photographic ID, an accepted enhanced DBS including the children’s barred-list check, and two references; a DBS can be bought through the service at cost if needed. Card collection is available through your own optional Stripe connected account, or you can arrange direct collection while continuing to book lessons through Tutor Hunt. Confirm processing charges and payout timing rather than assuming instant cash. Failed student payments, disputes and possible chargebacks remain risks for the tutor. Follow its safeguarding rules, budget for equipment and tax, and check the onboarding requirements before spending money on a check. We have not personally taught through it.
